Stewarding Families.

Helping families prepare people, not just portfolios.

Wealth is about more than preserving assets.

It is about preparing people.

Families rarely struggle because they lack technical expertise. They struggle because wealth introduces complex questions about relationships, communication, responsibility, purpose, and succession. How do we prepare the rising generation? How do we make thoughtful decisions together? How do we pass down values alongside financial resources?

These are the questions that shape OAOA Capital.

Through ongoing research, writing, and education, I am developing a practice devoted to helping families cultivate the awareness, wisdom, and capacity required to steward wealth across generations.

Why OAOA Capital?

While the word capital typically refers to money, property, or assets, for me it means something more.

I invest my time, intellect, and heart in people — their relationships, their livelihoods, and the lives they are building together.

Most advisors focus on the numbers. I do, too. But over years of pattern recognition, I've come to understand that the numbers are only part of the story. Behind every balance sheet, cash flow statement, and investment portfolio are people making decisions, navigating relationships, and trying to build lives that reflect what matters most.

Whether working with founder-led businesses through my CFO advisory practice, serving nonprofit organizations, or supporting ultra-high-net-worth families, I've found that the greatest asset is rarely the bank account, the real estate, or the investment portfolio.

It is the people.

To me, capital includes:

  • The trust a family builds over time.

  • The wisdom it cultivates.

  • The relationships it nurtures.

  • The capabilities it develops.

  • The stories it chooses to carry forward.

Financial capital matters. But without healthy human capital, financial wealth rarely creates the legacy families hope it will.

Over the years, I have come to recognize that spreadsheets rarely reveal the most important questions. Behind every financial statement are people navigating identity, communication, transition, and shared responsibility.

The numbers matter.

The people matter more.

What is OAOA?

OAOA stands for Own Awareness. Own Action.™

Meaningful stewardship begins with awareness.

Awareness of your family's financial landscape.

Awareness of the stories you've inherited about money.

Awareness of your shared values, aspirations, and patterns of decision-making.

Awareness creates clarity.

Clarity makes thoughtful action possible.

From that foundation, families can begin designing governance, communication, education, and stewardship practices that support not only today's decisions but the generations that follow.
